Cuboid Spacer System
Patent No. 5110095

How would you like to never lose a spacer again? It is possible with our patented Cuboid Spacer System. Unnecessary downtime searching for spacers is saved, because they never leave the machine.
Our cuboid is a six-sided figure with rectangular sides and three specific thicknesses. Each thickness represents a different pipe size. The Cuboid Spacer System is designed so only four cuboid spacers are needed to set up the machine. In the past 12 spacers were required.
The saddle of each H & M machine is designed to accept that machine’s largest pipe size. The saddle and four cuboids enable each machine to cut four specific pipe sizes. Each side of the cuboid is stamped with its corresponding pipe size to ensure cutting the correct pipe size. When the cuboids are not being used they are safely housed in four holes conveniently located on the back of the saddle.
Saddle Design
H & M offers functional and financial advantages over other machines by designing the saddle and ring gear as separate components.
To reduce the risk of warping the saddle during back-beveling, H & M’s saddle has been placed behind the ring gear. Many of our competitors arrange the ring gear in the middle of the saddle, exposing half of it to potentially damaging heat during back-beveling.
The H & M saddle assembly, however, is less likely to be damaged, and two separate components are much less costly to replace. This design also allows the machines to be precisely calibrated.
2DH Boomer Strap Eye Assembly
Cotter pins and S-hooks no longer exist on H & M Models 1 and 2 Standard Pipe Beveling Machines. The safer, more dependable 2DH allows the chain on the boomer assembly to quickly adjust and securely lock these machines to their respective pipe sizes. The boomer assembly is now a captive member of these machines.
Quality Control
All H & M machines are manufactured under a rigid system of quality control. During final assembly every machine is calibrated to ± .025 in concentricity and ± .015 in squareness, then checked one last time before distribution.
7CS Solid Torch Holder
Now standard on all H & M saddle-type beveling machines, the Model “C” Adjustable Torch Holder, the Model “C” Out-of-Round Attachment and all shape cutting attachments, the 7CS helps provide greater cutting accuracy, efficiency and strength. A single thumbscrew secures the instrument instead of hose clamps. A cotter pin makes the thumbscrew a captive member of the torch holder, providing a mechanism for spreading the 7CS and allowing easy removal or replacement of the torch. Solid performance is achieved every time.
The 7CS can now be easily retrofitted to existing 5C Torch Carrier Assemblies with only two screws required for removal and replacement.
